THIRSTY AND MISERABLE; A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE MUSIC OF BLACK FLAG NOW AVAILABLE IN PAPERBACK!

After making a few tweaks to the text, knocking out a couple of typos I missed, and making a new cover, Thirsty and Miserable; A Critical Analysis of Black Flag's Music is now available in paperback. You can order your copy HERE.

"Horror author and journalist Tim Murr fell in love with Black Flag's music in high school and continues to find inspiration in their music today. THIRSTY AND MISERABLE; A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE MUSIC OF BLACK FLAG reviews the band's entire discography from Nervous Breakdown to What The..? with some side roads into demos, art, and concert videos in between. THIRSTY AND MISERABLE is equal parts critique and love letter to a band that was a trailblazer in hardcore punk-that opened up the out of the way places across America for other bands to follow and defined and then redefined what hardcore was and what it could be."

THIRSTY AND MISERABLE BURNING UP THE CHARTS!

What a way to wake up, this morning! All of St Rooster Books are currently kicking ass in downloads, but I was particularly heartened to see Thirsty and Miserable; A Critical Analysis of the Music of Black Flag is #5 in Music History and Criticism category in the Kindle Store. Not sure how many other books I'm actually up against, but it feels nice to see that number regardless. All of our other books are ran up their numbers as well. Hopefully everyone remembers to leave a review, because we indies live and die by those reviews and ratings! Anyway, lets celebrate with some Black Flag!

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO READ? ST ROOSTER KINDLE BOOKS HAS YOU COVERED

Kids of the Black Hole; A Punksploitation Anthology

There was just something special about channel surfing and coming across Class of 1984 or Repo Man on cable. How many times have you rented Suburbia and Return of the Living Dead? Do you have The Green Room and The Ranger on Blu-ray? For some of us, Punksploitation holds a special place in our hearts. Especially for those of us who came from the sticks or small towns where there was no punk scene and our only connection was the music and the movies. St Rooster Books is proud to present five tales inspired by Punksploitation; “Urchins” by Chris Hallock, “Black Thunder” by Sarah Miner, “I Love Livin’ in the City” by Paul Lubaczewski, “Skate or Die” by Jeremy Lowe, and “What We Do is Secret” by Tim Murr. The stories run the gamut from B-movie sci-fi, to weird, to funny, to splatter, to straight horror. All are written from a place of love for punk rock and the movies it inspired.

To Be One With You; An Anthology of Parasitic Horror

featuring Paul Kane, Marie O'Regan, Jeffery X Martin, David W Barbee, Ross Peterson,DJ Tyrer, Adam Millard, Peter Oliver Wonder

This collection features horrifying, intelligent, and disgusting journeys into the relationship between host and parasite.
A New Life by Paul Lubaczewski

Down on his luck in Philadelphia, Austin found himself homeless and out of options, but a chance encounter with two men, named Nicky and Zion, will change his life forever. Unfortunately for Austin, it doesn't take him long to learn that getting everything you want can be Hell. Things get bloody awful in the follow up to Paul Lubaczewski's critically acclaimed I NEVER EAT...CHEESESTEAK. Achieving a balance of literary fiction and pure horror, A NEW LIFE is smart and brutal with an emotional gravity. Lubaczewski gives us a psychological deep dive into the desperation of life on the jagged edges of society.

Thirsty and Miserable; A Critical Analysis of the Music of Black Flag by Tim Murr

Horror author and journalist Tim Murr fell in love with Black Flag's music in high school and continues to find inspiration in their music today. THIRSTY AND MISERABLE; A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE MUSIC OF BLACK FLAG reviews the band's entire discography from Nervous Breakdown to What The..? with some side roads into demos, art, and concert videos in between. The Gray Man by Tim Murr

What do you do when your family becomes your prison? Tim Murr, the author of Neon Sabbath, Motel on Fire, and City Long Suffering, takes you to a small town in East Tennessee, where a young family move into a home where a predatory spirit lies in wait with generations of tragic secrets pulsating just under the surface. THE GRAY MAN is Murr's most personal work to date and also his most horrifying.
Motel on Fire by Tim Murr

Body horror, possession, the supernatural, the paranormal, weird, creature-feature, revenge...Every story a journey, some physical, some mental.
Motel On Fire is a travelogue of terror-zig zagging across America from the creator of the horror culture blog Stranger With Friction.

Neon Sabbath by Tim Murr

In his latest collection of short stories, Tim Murr brings back the feeling of raiding your local video store’s horror section. Capturing the fantastical, the sleaze, and the gore, while raising his middle finger to the very notion of “elevated horror,” but still delivering a highly literate, fast paced read.

GETTING EVERYTHING YOU WANT IS HELL IN PAUL LUBACZEWSKI'S LATEST BOOK "A NEW LIFE"

St Rooster Books is proud to present Paul Lubaczewski's follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut novel I Never Eat...Cheesesteak, A New Life! A New Life drops on Friday, February 28th, 2020.
Austin is down on his luck, broke and homeless, but a chance encounter with two less than reputable men will set him on the path of getting what he wants in life, but he'll go through Hell to get it!
Paul's work has appeared across several publications and I Never Eat...Cheesesteak was published by 50/50 Press. We worked with him for the first time last year when his story "I Love Livin' in the City" appeared in Kids of the Black Hole; A Punksploitation Anthology. We're excited to present A New Life!
As much as fans and critics (myself included) loved I Never Eat...Cheesesteak, I expect people to be just as down with a A New Life. It has the perfect balance of character driven literary fiction and straight up tense horror. Steph is currently finishing up the cover (that's her work on Kids, above, if you don't know) and it's looking really cool and eye catching. I'm currently doing a final editing pass and we'll be blitzing social media when we get closer to the release date.

In the mean time, wanna win Paul's personal editing copy, bound and autographed by the man himself? Follow him on Twitter, @PaulLubaczewski, find the link to this post and tell Paul what your favorite horror movie is in the comments, using the hash tag #ANewLife.

THE GRAY MAN REVIEWED ON DIABOLIQUE

Check out this amazing review of my new novella, The Gray Man, by Miranda Chorcrain over at Diabolique Magazine! Totally blown away. Add this to great reviews from Becky Narron (Deadman's Tome Publishing) and Sam Richards (Weird Punk Books). Sales aren't great, but I've got to believe that the book is going to find it's audience, I'm really proud of it.  Click HERE to check out this thoughtful and in depth review!

THE GRAY MAN COVER REVEALED

My wife, Stephanie, who previously created the covers for my books Conspiracy of Birds, Motel on Fire, and Neon Sabbath, as well as the anthology To Be One With You, among many other Stranger With Friction related projects, has handed over her cover for my upcoming novella, The Gray Man.

"This house has a history. Houses with a history tend to have a lot to say."

Synopsis; In their early 20s, with three kids under five, the Martins are on the move a lot, because of the father's job. The mother is beginning to feel her family is a prison. The oldest boy is feeling increasingly lonely and isolated. The young family, already nearing a breaking point, moves into an old rental home, where a malevolent spirit will test the tenuous bond of their marriage and the relationship between parent and child.

"A wild tense ride you won’t forget. Old yellow eyes is the stuff true nightmares are made from. Brilliantly written with a cast of characters you feel like are part of your family. Totally engrossing."
-Becky Narron-

Deadman’s Tome Publishing

The Gray Man is slated for a late March release, stay tuned for more details.
